The Laugh House + Jonathan Rollins · Creative Strategy

Building two brands without letting either one trap the other.

During my internship, I worked across both comedian Jonathan Rollins’ personal brand and The Laugh House, the comedy club he was building in Stockholm.

My job was to find creative territory where both could grow: together, but not interchangeably.

Person + Place

01 · The brand problem

One assignment. Two very different brand problems.

JonathanPersonal brand

He had recognition.

Jonathan’s experience as an American living in Sweden had become one of the most recognizable parts of his comedy. It worked, but it was beginning to define too much of the brand.

Expand the brand without abandoning the equity that made him recognizable.

The Laugh HouseVenue brand

It needed identity.

The club was connected to Jonathan, but it needed its own reason to matter beyond simply being a venue where Jonathan performed.

Give the club a distinct role in Stockholm nightlife and comedy culture.

02 · Jonathan: expand the world

Keep the voice. Expand what it can talk about.

The goal wasn’t to erase the American-in-Sweden perspective. It was to find additional creative engines rooted in Jonathan’s storytelling, audience interaction, recurring jokes, community, and personality.

03 · The Laugh House: build the world

Turning the mission into the brand.

When The Laugh House was founded, the goal was to become Sweden’s international hub for English comedy. For the brand to evolve, it needs to return to that premise.

What unique role can this place play in Stockholm?

01It created a hub for international comedic talent.02It gave locals a new way to experience the city.

04 · Strategic messaging

Different audiences. Shared reasons to show up.

Before developing audience-specific creative, I identified the motivations that could connect different kinds of people to The Laugh House.

What the audience wants
BelongingA place where newcomers, locals, groups, and comedy fans could feel part of something rather than simply attend a show.
DiscoverySomething worth finding, whether you’re new to Stockholm or simply tired of doing the same things.
Fresh experiencesA reason to choose comedy over another predictable dinner, bar, or night on the couch.
EscapeA break from routine, isolation, bad dates, boring weekends, or the quieter side of Stockholm life.
International StockholmA more global, open, energetic side of the city, without requiring a flight somewhere else.

05 · Audience personas

Five audiences. Different ways into the same brand.

06 · Proposed creative

Four ideas. Four ways into the night.

The concepts translated audience needs into distinct reasons to choose The Laugh House. These were strategic explorations, not published campaign results.
